NYC Access for All is a non-profit

American Disabilities Act (ADA) advocacy group

fighting for equal access on NYC public streets.

In April 2020, the "Open Streets" (closed streets) program was unleashed city-wide as a temporary pandemic response. In 2021, while ordinary business was suspended and people worked from home, "Open Streets" was legislated by NYC Council to be permanent. In September 2022, the NYS Governor expired the pandemic emergency.

“Open Streets” has served its purpose and the rationale

of needing open public spaces to safely congregate is

no longer relevant.

Less than 1% of 8.47 million New Yorkers commute by bicycle. 11% of NYC residents have a disability. There are 1.1 million older adults in NYC, making up 13% of the population. The DOT's policy of prioritizing cyclists over seniors and the disabled is not providing access for all New Yorkers.

Please support us to truly open streets to all

as we take legal action against the City of New York.
